Day dream your life away or be present and Sway..

Daydreaming is a short-term detachment from one’s immediate surroundings, during which a person’s contact with reality is blurred and partially substituted by a visionary fantasy.

Let’s begin with the task of stopping day dreaming. It will take mental effort that may be as differcult or as easy as turning off the television set. With conviction you have to decide at this time to stop daydreaming. Especially, if you are conversating or listening to someone, it is ill-manner to let your mind wander. Or you are operating a vehicle, why on earth daydream if your attention should on the road?

You see those are circumstances where daydreaming must be switched off. Entertaining imagination can have some practicality when considering how we might chose our actions or what to say, like in a job interview. You may view yourself being asked questions as of, “why do want to work here?”

There are limits, again, like television watching, too much of it will affect us negatively and our relationships with others. You alreadly realize you need to curb the daydreaming, please act decidedly, learn to use your inner remote control.

This will sound very simple but be rest assured it is one of the most difficult things to do.

Just live in the present moment. Try and focus your mind always very consciously on your task at hand in the present moment always even if it is as simple a task as walking on the streets, cooking watering the plants etc. the mind has a tendency to immediately leave the present and think about either the past or the future but make conscious effort to recognize it and bring it back.

It will be difficult in the start but with continuous efforts slowly and steadily it will be conditioned and you will start noticing that it has started to wonder less. Your output will increase and just your presence will be felt stronger and your brain will start taking instructions from you which is the other way round as of now.

To have a good presence of mind, one needs to have a presence of mind first. And for the mind to be present in the concurrent moment, you need to let go off your thinking about both the past and future. This is a prerequisite to have presence of mind. 

This also means controlling your mind which keeps oscillating between past, present and future. What you need here, is not a tighter control but some flexibility. It will help you from the emotional derailment.

This also means cutting out the non sense present in front of you and sticking to what is truly important. No bullshit.
